The reason is that shortened hours will increase the density of shoppers/patrons within business premises, thereby decreasing average social distances.
The risk to workers running the business could be higher because patrons get served slower & slower to get out of the premises. The viral loads from patrons are thus higher. Whether this can be offset by shorter hours will depend on many factors.
